Our History

Indiana Members Credit Union

How did it begin?

In 1956, a group of employees at the Indiana University Medical Center, saw a need to make low-cost credit available to the employees through a national cooperative system. They believed a credit union would be an excellent solution.

What is a credit union?

As a credit union, Indiana Members is a not-for-profit financial institution owned and operated by its members. You have a voice and a vote as a credit union member. Credit union profits are returned to our members in the form of better rates and services. In comparison, a bank's profits are paid out to their stockholders.

Our tagline is "Keeping it Simple". What does that mean to our members?

Everyone has to do it, and everyone has lots of other things they would rather be doing instead of banking. For this reason, Indiana Members Credit Union is committed to "Keeping it Simple" for you. Consequently, we have chosen "Keeping It Simple" as our credit union tagline. We know that you want your banking to be simple and convenient, and want to be treated special at a place that is comfortable and secure. Great products and services may not be enough to entice someone to change financial institutions. However, combine that with excellent service and keeping your financial tasks simple, which is what IMCU strives to accomplish everyday. This is our promise to you, as a member of Indiana Members Credit Union.
